  Treat Me

  Chapter One

“Matt?” I called out just as I began to open my eyes. Fuck. I was dreaming. I turned over to my side and switched the bedside lamp on. Damn it, my room was a fucking mess. How did I get home anyway? I remember going to his place - to Matt’s place - and talking about that nonsense Halloween Special that he’d just watched.

Did we drink? We must have because I felt heavy and hung over. I loved the feeling I got while drinking but I just hated the fact that I was so weak that I always forgot everything that took place. Maybe I was allergic to alcohol or something but it just had a strong effect on me.

“Where is he?” I asked myself aloud. I sat up, tossed my shirt and bra off to the foot of the bed and reached for my phone. Fuck, it was on the floor. I must have really stumbled in when I got home. I wonder if he drove me home or if he was too drunk and asleep that I had to stumble all the way back.

“Where are you? What the fuck happened?” I texted him. He didn’t reply as quickly as he normally did. Maybe he was asleep. I couldn’t go back to sleep, however, and figured there were other things to do.

I kicked off my shorts and panties and walked over to my closet. Hmm… there were a lot of cute little things to put on but after a while I settled with the slutty Bunny lingerie Matt had bought for Halloween. Sure, we never actually had sex but that didn’t mean I wouldn’t tease him every now and then. It was also quite comfortable to wear.

For a quick moment I checked myself in the mirror. I was honestly pleased with what I saw. Although I barely stood an inch above five feet, I at least had a figure most women would die for. I knew I had a hot body. What I liked most about my appearance, however, was my long light brown hair and green eyes. Well, those and my back. Matt kept telling me that if we ever did have sex he would go crazy to fuck me doggystyle because of how hot I would look doing it.

Back on the bed, all I could think of was how Matt held onto me tonight - well, as much as I could remember anyway, before we got around to drinking. I remember him pulling me to him and he crushed me with his arms, embracing me so tightly I thought he’d never let me go.

That was one of the moments where I felt truly loved, truly cherished. I could feel his heart beating faster and the warmth of his breath. When I snuggled in closer I could even feel his cock getting harder - I loved that. I wanted to tease him. I wanted to feel how much he wanted me even though he knew I wasn’t going to give myself up so easily.

“Why are you still a virgin?” he did ask me once while we were on a date. This was a few weeks ago and we were out having ice cream at the park. I just quit my job at the time and needed someone to let my frustrations out and Matt closed his shop just to be with me that day.

I could only shrug back at him. “I had a chance to lose my virginity back in high school and again in college,” I admitted. “Typical student shit, you know, like getting drunk while at a party and hanging out with the hot guy.”

  “So, what happened?”

“Well, on the first instance he couldn’t get his cock up because he was so intoxicated and during the second time we were caught by the guy’s parents.” I laughed and licked my ice cream. Now that I thought about it I just found the memory so amusing. I’m a virgin because of sheer bad luck.

Matt did express on multiple occasions he wanted to sleep with me. To be completely honest I wanted to give it to him and there were times where I felt so hot and aroused that I almost initiated sex.

I just couldn’t though and for the longest time I couldn’t really figure out why. Matt, fortunately, was patient enough to wait and let me figure this shit out. He never tried to rush me but he always did joke that he might as well masturbate to my images and videos just to relieve himself of all the waiting. I could only laugh and let him have a go.

  Why hasn’t he replied yet?

I checked the time. It was still just eleven o’clock. He wouldn’t be asleep just yet, he had a habit of playing video games until early morning. He couldn’t be too busy to at least text back. Was he back at the shop? It closes at six in the evening. There’d be no reason to go back unless there was a new shipment of clothes that had to be received right then and there.

“He’ll call,” I told myself. I wasn’t sleepy anymore so I figured I might as well spend some time online. Using my phone I got on Facebook. Fortunately, a lot of our friends were still online. I saw Kevin was still on, maybe he was with Matt.

“Hey,” I popped him a message. “You with Matt?”

“Nope,” he replied quickly. “I’m hanging out with Melanie and Tom playing beer pong. Care to join?”

That sounded fun. I thought about it for a few seconds but figured Matt might call any moment and it would be a dick move if I decided to not sleep at his place but still hang out and get drunk with others.

“I’m good,” I replied. “Maybe next time. Just a bit worried, he hasn’t replied yet.”

Kevin took a while to reply. “Uh… he’s probably just busy. Maybe he’s sleeping.”

I raised an eyebrow and decided to chat up Melanie. “Yo. You guys seen Matt?”

“He was here just a while ago, shooting the shit and stuff,” she quickly replied. “I’m here with Kevin and Tom. Jodie was here too but she had to go. Something with her brother bugging her about work or some stuff, I don’t know really.”

Fucking Kevin. He freaking lied to me. Maybe Matt put him up to it. That just didn’t seem like Matt though and why would Kevin ask me to join them if he didn’t want me to know Matt was just there a while ago?

“Kevin said otherwise,” I told her. “Fucking liar.”

“I saw Kevin and Matt talking privately earlier, right before Matt left,” she told me. “Hey, I got to go. I’m in the bathroom. Been drinking too fucking much. I’ll chat you up tomorrow. Maybe we can hang out at that new diner.”

I got up from the bed and paced around. Something was just not feeling right. I had to retrace my steps. I got off work at five, Matt closed shop and picked me up, we
bought some drinks, watched a movie at his place and then got drunk. He drove me home, I took a nap and then I woke up. That’s where I was now. So at some point after Matt left my place he joined up with Kevin and the others and he just left. He was probably not responding to my messages because he was driving home.

Yeah, that was probably it. He’ll text or call the moment he got home.

  Ring!

See? There he was. I knew it. My eyebrows raised, however, when I got a look at the number calling my phone. It was an unknown number. Who the fuck was this?

“Uh, hello?” I immediately asked as soon as I picked up the call.

“Hello, is this a Lily Hunter?” a female voice asked on the other end. It sounded very authoritative and straight to the point.

“Y-yes ma’am, this is Lily,” I answered. “Uh who is this?”

“Ms. Hunter, I’m Officer Joy O’Reilly, I’m calling about a Matthew Ricci. Do you know him?”

What the fuck was going on? Why would she be calling about Matt? Did he get into some kind of trouble? Fuck! He had a reputation for his temper… maybe he got into a fight. He was drunk, after all.

“Yes, I do,” I then answered. “Could you please tell me what this is all about?”

“You were the only person listed for emergencies that Mr. Ricci had on his phone so we called you before anyone else. I can presume you are his girlfriend?” The officer paused a moment and when I didn’t reply she continued on. “I don’t know how else to put this so I’ll just give it to you straight. Mr. Ricci was struck in a car accident. He swerved to the right and smashed against an incoming truck. I’m sorry, Ms. Hunter, but he died before we even got to the scene.”

  W-wait… what?

I blinked. She had to be joking, right? That had to be a lie. This all had to be a lie. He was just with me a few hours ago. Kevin just saw him. They were just having some fun, how could he be gone?

“Ms. Hunter?” Officer O’Reilly checked on me.

“Where did this happen? Are y-you still there? Tell me where and I’ll head over there now.”

“We’ll pick you up,” she replied. “Just tell me your address and I’ll have one of the guys on patrol there pick you.”

“O-okay,” I answered. My voice quivered as I tried to hold back the tears. Deep inside I wanted to freaking scream and throw my phone out the fucking window. “I-it’s apartment four, Riverview Compound, along High Rise Avenue.”

“Got it,” O’Reilly said. “I’m terribly sorry for your loss, Ms. Hunter. I truly am.”

I ended the phone call and waited. Tears began to flow down my cheeks and I couldn’t even tell when I began to let them loose. I just felt the warmth streak down my face and before I could stop myself I was starting to shiver and crumble to the floor in heavy sobs.

  What the fuck just happened?

  Chapter Two

“Really sorry, Lily,” a couple of people repeated as they passed me by at the cemetery.

I saw Kevin and Tom a while back but they quickly made their way out after the coffin was covered. Melanie left as well but she at least waved at me. There were a lot of old friends that came by but I did find it strange that the only relative Matt had attending the funeral was his mother, Lorie, and she was a goddamn shrewd.

I honestly hated the woman. She was rude, impatient and she never wanted to talk to either me or Matt about anything. She just seemed so unhappy with life and I didn’t want to get infected with her negativity.

However, I did have to show some respect and offer my condolences to her. Ah, what the hell, right? I walked over to her. The old bitch was standing by a tree, all alone, staring at her son’s gravestone from a distance. She didn’t pay any attention to some of the guests that did pass her by to give their regards. Most of Matt’s friends knew not to talk to his mom but there were some who still did. Boy did they get a cold reception.

“Hey,” I greeted her as I approached. “The pastor was hoping to talk to you. He told me a while back after he gave that prayer.”

Lorie didn’t even bother looking at me, “Screw him. Whatever he has to say it won’t change the fact my son’s in the ground. I’d blame you for it but you’re too dumb to even recognize it.”

What the fuck was wrong with this woman?

“I’ll ignore that statement,” I responded. When I looked down I realized I had clenched my hands into a fist. God, I wanted to smack that woman down. I had to fight the urge to punch her and the urge to break down again and cry all at once. “The public attorney is going to come by your place tomorrow and talk about Matt’s stuff.”

“You can keep it,” she told me in a flat, uncaring tone. “I don’t want any of it.”

Her eyes then lingered to a car that just drove up to the funeral site. It was a long, black limousine. That was a little too fancy for anyone I knew to be in. Was it one of Lorie’s guests?

“Get out of my sight,” Lorie suddenly shooed me off. “You’re already a pain to look at, now I have to deal with this son of a bitch.”

I pointed to the limousine. “Friend of yours?”

  Lorie grimaced. “Ex-husband.”

That got my interest peaked. I never got to meet Matt’s father. As a matter of fact, Matt never even talked about him except the one time he mentioned his parents divorced and that his dad was always busy with some kind of business.

“If you’re not going to talk to him, I will,” I told Lorie and left her by that tree to rot. I spun around and walked towards the car just as the driver hopped out, walked over to the passenger seat and opened the door. The driver also handed Matt’s father a bouquet of flowers.

Out came this tall, muscular man who stood no shorter than six-feet-four. He was a freaking hulk with big shoulders, a buff build and a barrel of a chest. He had slick black hair that was pulled back and a neatly shaved face. He wore a black pair of slacks, leather shoes, a black shirt and a long, black trench coat. Given he was Matt’s father I could presume he was around forty-five to fifty years old but damn he looked like a cover model for a magazine.

“Uh, hi,” I greeted. I reached out to him with a hand, hoping he’d get the gesture and shake it. “I’m Lily Hunter, Matt’s girlfriend.”

Fortunately for me, he shook my hand and gave a weak smile. I looked into his eyes and saw they were slightly sunken, maybe even a little red. Even such a tough-looking guy like this must have cried when he heard his son died. It crushed my heart.

“Hello,” he answered. He had this really thick, deep voice that was sexy and intoxicating. His grip on my hand was so strong I almost winced in pain but he did let go before I could complain. “I am Giovanni, yes. I am his father. I have to thank you for handling all the legalities involved here in such troubled times. Lorie… she can be a pain.”

That was the understatement of the year.

“Let’s talk more about this later, shall we?” he asked me. He then pointed to the site. “Could you be so kind and escort me to my son? I would like to offer a prayer and bid him good-bye.”

That was honestly so sweet to hear. I nodded and helped Giovanni up the hill and to Matt’s grave site. I stood there silently, just beside Giovanni’s tall driver, and watched as Giovanni said his prayers. He then knelt and laid down a parchment of paper and the flowers he had with him.

When he was done he then turned over to me and placed his hands on my shoulders. Wow, they were really heavy.

“I really must thank you,” he told me. “You were there for Matthew when I wasn’t. He never did like how I dealt with business.”

“I didn’t even know,” I admitted to him. “He rarely ever talked about you or his mom.”

Giovanni shrugged. “I understand. For him, my business has a dark turn to it, something he could never grasp. He was a little weak, in that sense, or maybe just too sweet and innocent.”

Dark? What kind of business did this guy really do, anyway? I knew he was rich and maybe that was a reason why Matt wanted to run his own thing, do
things his own way without relying on his parents, but it really got me curious as to what Giovanni actually did.

“I’d call him super sweet,” was all I could muster. A tear flowed down my cheek as I started to remember him even more. The image of Matt begging for a hug and kiss kept pervading into my mind. “I miss him so much!”

Giovanni wiped away the tear and he gave me a hug. Tight, warm and reassuring, I suddenly felt so safe and secure in his arms. I felt like a little girl being wrapped and protected by a lion of a man.

“Do not cry, little girl,” he told me. It was kind of amusing how he called me a girl when in fact I was already twenty-five. “Here, take my calling card. Call me when you want to talk. I want to know you more, you know, get to know the fine lady my son spent all his time with. Maybe then I will get to know the man he was.”

That sounded sincere and sweet. I nodded and took his card. I placed it in my pocket and in my head I was thinking how amusing it was that someone still handed these things out. I then reached out to him.

“I don’t have a card but if you have your phone with you, you could save my number too. I don’t know, just in case or whatever.”

Giovanni nodded and took out a phone from his pocket. It was a new model, probably worth six months of my salary at work. Just looking at it made me even more curious about this man’s business. He could afford something so new and expensive on a whim.

I took his phone, punched in my number and watched as he took the time to type and save it to his phonebook. When he got it in, he gave me a soft peck on the cheek and then headed back to his car with the driver.

I stood and waved good-bye. Maybe I didn’t have to be alone in my grief. Here was a man who barely knew his own son and perhaps I could just let out all my pain by talking to him. Giovanni was Matt’s father so in a way I’d still be connected to them. Well, it would be a hundred times better than trying to converse with Lorie, that was for sure.
